WRBS Streaming FAQ
Q: What browser and software will I need to stream WRBS?
- The player works in all the latest major browsers: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape, AOL, Opera. You will need version 7,8,9,10, or 11 installed of the Windows Media Player.
Q: I am prompted to install ActiveX controls, what should I Do?
- ActiveX controls must be allowed to run. Some systems may just dismiss ActiveX if your security is set to high, others will prompt you to run ActiveX, and some/most systems are set to run ActiveX controls from trusted sources (such as Microsoft). Your ActiveX settings and download settings may need to be adjusted to allow playback. With the incorrect security settings your browser could just loop around from the home page to the listen page. If you are getting prompted for ActiveX issues, click on the info bar and select more information.
- Some listeners may be in corporate environments and will have no control over these settings.
Q: My Streaming window will not pop-up, what should I do?
- You should disable the pop-up blocker on your browser. You will need to allow the pop-up, but it is a clicked pop-up and not just one launching out of a page automatically which is generally considered a pop-up.
- Javascript is required to open the pop-up. Again, works in all the latest major browsers.
Q: I cannot hear the audio when the stream is playing?
- Make sure the volume level is turned up on the player itself.
- In addition check your main system's volume. The volume icon is located in your "system tray" (located in the lower right corner of your monitor), double click it and open volume control. Make sure that sound isn't muted and that the volume is turned up as well as Wave or Stereo Mix.
- You may have more than one soundcard in you system available and are not using the default soundcard. Solution: Set your default soundcard to the one in use.
