"Overcomer" by Mandisa

Tracey's Take

We quit too early. This was a little nugget my personal trainer Chris Welch shared with me that was like a bullseye to my heart because I know it's true about me. Is it true of you?
I can be humming along, accomplishing things, feeling great, and then a setback where I am disappointed in my performance can make me want to just give up on the spot. It's like I thought all the progress I made was somehow a fluke. Really I am just weak, inconsistent, and easily defeated. Harsh words to think about myself, but that was my "tape." God has different words to describe me - words that point to another version of me, a mysterious creature who has strength and power and emerges victorious from the battles of life.
I am "more than a conqueror through Christ who loved me"- Romans 8:37.
I am an OVERCOMER.  "For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God" -1 John 5:4-5.
Could it be that God, who created us, knows something about us that we don't know? Who I am in Christ is the best version of me. When I am at the end of my own strength and feel like I have absolutely nothing left to keep going with, this is where I finally stop trying to do it on my own and tap into the living God who has promised to be with me and fight for me.  I am an overcomer when I persevere in that trial and trust God all the way through to the other side.
Jesus doesn't quit.  And when I put my trust in Him, neither do I.

"Overcomer" Lyrics
Staring at a stop sign
Watching people drive by
T Mac on the radio
Got so much on your mind
Nothing's really going right
Looking for a ray of hope

Whatever it is you may be going through
I know He's not gonna let it get the best of you

You're an overcomer
Stay in the fight ‘til the final round
You're not going under
‘Cause God is holding you right now
You might be down for a moment
Feeling like it's hopeless
That's when He reminds You
That you're an overcomer
You're an overcomer

Everybody's been down
Hit the bottom, hit the ground
Oh, you're not alone
Just take a breath, don't forget
Hang on to His promises
He wants You to know

The same Man, the Great I am
The one who overcame death
Is living inside of You
So just hold tight, fix your eyes
On the one who holds your life
There's nothing He can't do
He's telling You
